Now that it is confirmed, how will this impact on our club and our town?

Relegation is part what makes football such an addiction, the excitement the ups and the downs. This time though could the implications be seriously damaging for the whole set up.

Last night speaking to employees at Ewood there is a genuine concern about job stability amongst them. The Community work done by Rovers is heavily funded by the Premier League etc. I'm sure even Lee must have one eye on the job situation at Ewood now. The town will suffer on the back of this and as we all know this town needs all the help and investement it can get. Watch over the next week or two, the figures that the newly promoted teams reportedly attract to there local economy.

The Premier League isnt just about playing the big teams with star players, its all the trappings that come with it, that many of us never see but will feel the impact of them going away.

Relegation I can accept, it just feels like we have been simply taken down this time. The heart of the club is missing. How many tearfull fans did the sky cameras find last night?? Not many, its almost a tradition each season to see banks of crying men women and children. Last night all the cameras got was a mixture of anger and acceptance, and that shows that the clubs problems run very deep.

The downfall of the club the past year and a half has been painful for many of us. I compared it to seeing a glass that used to be half full, half empty. The last season and a half has been an absolute miserable time to be a blackburn fan. Not only had we been treated to one of the worst football in recent memory, we have been shamed in the media due to our "lack of support" for the manager. The glass that used to be half filled half empty could be said to have been slowing dripping away to past year and a half and have probably come to almost a complete empty today.

It all started with the Venky taking over the club. To be blunt, things could have been very different. The Venky having bought the club really didn't need to do anything to rock the boat at all. They had a perfectly capable chairman, arugably the best in the football business in running a club on a budget and who have been doing so the past decade in John William. The Venkys being non footballing people themeselves could have simply left the running of the club to John William who have been doing an outstanding job managing the club with limited budget. However the Venky came in with their big roman abroamvich attitude wanting to change the direction of the club. Within the first month or so, they announced that they feel the club deserve more than the Big Sam brand of football and promptly took their first big mistake in sacking Sam.

Despite their big talks, their replacement for Sam was the little known Steve Kean. Steve Kean having been at the club as manager for the past year and a half had shown that he does not ever have a chance in cutting it in the league. His tactical sense is poor. His team are poor in defending set piece, look disorganised the majority of the time, and he can't manage the players judging by the attitude of their performance. Let's not forget, the defence.

Despite having absolutely no reason to stick to Steve Kean, the Venky did as if sticking to Kean allow them to take the moral highground. This was a shocking decision. Kean had taken the team performance to such a bad extent that the Venky was quickly losing any sort of support for their regime due to their insistence of sticking with Kean. This still doesn't make sense till today. Kean was largely disliked and even hated by several section of the blackburn fans. 99% of the fans wanted him gone. Yet the Venky continue to stick with him in what looks like a deliberate attempt to simply go against the fans.

The strange thing however did not end there. Some fans thought that sticking with Kean could turn out good if that means that the Venky will allow Kean resources to improve the squad with his own set of players. By a throw of a dice, the club somehow stayed in the league on the last game of the previous campaign and Steve Kean started his big talk on how the club will look to push forward next season once he allow his own sets of players to be brought in.

The club biggest two assets, Chris Samba and Phil Jones have since been sold for a combine fee of about 28million. Add in Niko Kalinic and the total amount received from player sales is probably about 32million. Steve Kean brought in a range of players including the like of Scott Dann (7million), Goodwille, Vukevic, Petrovic (All of whom cost about 2-3million each and have not been of any impact this season). Yakubu, Orr, Olssen, Formica and Rochina were also brought in. The club lost Salagdo (non playing) Roberts, Nelsen, Diouf, Andrew, Emerton.

Despite clearly lacking organisation and good defenders at the back and going into the Jan transfer window talking a great deal on shoring up the defence. The club made the strangest decision to allow Nelsen & Samba to leave w/o buying anyone as a replacement. In particular, Nelsen leaving was shocking as he probably would be okay staying on till the end of the season and would be a good player to have organising the backline with his experience and leadership. The club allowed him to leave w/o replacement and having on Hanley and Dann, both of whom have not proven themselves much this season.

While Steve Kean continue to churn out one bad result after another, the attitude of the players continue to remain lackustre in games. Whether due to some strange tactical reasons or simply a lack of passion, the players continue to play as if they were enjoy midtable safety without any sort of aggression or interest. Steven Nzonzi, Morten Gamst Pedersen, Scott Dann and many others were always capable of being counted on to display that lack of tenacity. The other players in the team that actually played with interest such as Jason Lowe, the Olssens twins, Formica, Hanley are all rookies who suddenly seemed to have to step up for their more senior and underperforming counterparts. Junior Hoilett plays with interest at some days hoping to interest scout while Yakubu had been the one shining light throughout.

Of course the major Kean signings couldn't really show us why they were brought in because they were too busy warming the bench.

Of late, there have been a recent discussion on whether the fans of the club have been guilty of throwing in the towel too early. Perhaps we have been. But the better question to ask would be whether the club has actually thrown in the towel 4 months ago. The Venky certainly seemed to have done so when they offered Kean little support in January despite looking as though we were certain relegation candidates unless we receive some new faces. The players defintely look as they had given up judging by their on field attitude (Just look at Nzonzi today). Steve Kean remained as clueless as every thinking that bad luck has brought the club where it is today with little knowledge of the fact that the defence had destroyed the club.

The question now is how do we go forward. My simple suggestion is the same solution that myself and others have been saying for about a year already. Kean has to go. If kean doesn't go, the club will continue to go backwards regardless. If Venky do not wish to sack Kean, than the Venky needs to go with them. If that is not the case, I will throw in my towel as a fan until that day arrive becuase I SIMPLY CANNOT ENDURE ANOTHER PERFORMANC LIKE THE PATHATIC AND SHAMEFUL PERFORMANCE TODAY.

with the great success of the reserve team last season, was it 8 of the starting 11 at old trafford (where we won 3-2) played in the reserve final last year?

The FA youth cup run to the final this year ! im not going to say this is all down to Venkies but it is clearly of the business model encourage youth progresion- if we can produce more players of even half the ability of phil jones , i will be happy for the future of the club.

I know it's a long way off, but being the final day of the season I'm looking at booking my train tickets this weekend as you can get them a lot cheaper this far in advance. My only worry is the kick off time changing or something? But I'm pretty sure everyone kicks off at the same time on the final day don't they? Also, what's our allocation normally at Chelsea? I'd hate to get train tickets, but not manage to get a couple of match tickets. Thanks.
